Land purchase

Dear friends,
we would like to inform you that Santikaram Association Slovakia has managed to purchase a 50% share of the land located near the forest temple. The purchase of the land was made using funds from the land donations in the total amount of 44,517.42 Euros and from the association's own savings in the total amount of 20,482.58 Euros.
Since the terms of the bank loan were unacceptable for the association, and the association would not even be able to repay the high loan installments, the Board of Directors decided at its meeting that the association would cede the other half of the land to the other investor. After several negotiations, the parents of Venerable Santikaro Thera became those investors. They also agreed that the association could use the entire land as it saw fit.
The association's management hereby expresses a sincere gratitude to all members who supported the intention to purchase the land and contributed to its realization with their donations. It also expresses great gratitude to the parents of Venerable Santikaro Thera, who lent a helping hand to the association in this difficult situation. A special thanks also go to the member of the Board of Directors Katka Marková, who helped with her experience as a real estate agent and prepared the necessary contracts in cooperation with lawyers.
A total of 27 members of the association and more than 50 other friends of the forest temple sent their donations for land. Many friends from abroad, namely from Czech Republic, Thailand, Australia, Singapore, Indonesia, Belgium, Germany and US also supported the purchase of the land with their donations. We would like to emphasize that the purchased land is the property of the association, and all members of the association decide the way of its use at the General Assembly. Each member has the opportunity to participate in the management of the land and in deciding how to deal with it. It is up to each of us to what extent we will be involved in building and developing what will benefit the entire community.
All those who took advantage of this unique opportunity and sent their donations for land have done a very meritorious deed. They have shown not only their determination to stand up for a good cause, but also made it clear that they care about the existence of the forest temple, and last but not least, the existence of monks in Slovakia. We share their merits and rejoice in them. May these merits help them realize all their goals, not only in their worldly life, but especially on their spiritual path.
We couldn't have wished for a better present for the 3rd anniversary of our association!
